“SO Ace! Absolutely cracking.. That record is properly brilliant, not one bad track.”
Lauren Laverne, BBC 6Music
"Cardiff quintet The Method have dosed their recording with Happy Feet pills, bringing ska-styled horn trappings to bear on slashing guitars, a catchy chorus, and throaty vocals from Richie Hayes. Guaranteed to work up a sweat just listening to it. The flip opens with a stalking surf guitar riff and Richie’s Julian Cope meets Billy Idol snarl before wailing horns and a pounding backbeat threaten to knock the needle off the turntable. Heavy stuff with a bit of a punky garage pedigree. A new single is due shortly and if it’s as exciting as this, the album should be a killer. More proof that Cardiff is an exciting place for music these days."
Jeff Penczak, Shindig! Magazine
"‘A fiercesome live band whose musical DNA can be traced through a heritage of punk, soul, ska, R’n’B and reggae, this thrill-seeking outfit proved they were no retro throwbacks with averitable rip-snorter of a debut single. Whip Around pulsated with youthful urgency’
Bands to watch 2011. Dave Owens, The Western Mail
“Great band!”
Bethan Elfyn, BBC Radio 1
“A mix of northern soul, 60’s funk and mod. They're fantastic!”
Matt Johnson, ITV
“This is psyche, noisy, dubby, noisy wonder reminiscent of new Bristol heroes Malakai….I’m delighted to say that we love it”
BBC Bristol Introducing
"I really like! This is ace. Well done… It's like Calexico, The Specials and the Yardbirds all in one."
Adam Walton, BBC Radio Wales
“The Method's dance crazed enthusiasm and refusal to treat their influences with overt reverence gives them the air of true originals, and they're an actual pop group into the bargain.”
Tasty Fanzine
“Lead singer Rich and his cronies play fantastically energetic, ear-throbbingly good music with a menacing stage presence. Combined with the roaring riffs and synth-infused melodies, The Method demand body movement and active audience participation.”
Caught In the Crossfire
“The Method, have a new convert! Please, please check them out… They have a 60s garage-rock, psychedelic influenced sound, with some danceable soul beats. Like The Coral and The Zutons (only edgier)!”
The Beat Surrender
Few Cardiff bands, when playing live, truly resonate at quite the same molecular level of The Method. And if their forthcoming recorded album brings the same rich-garage-brass-ball-shakalaka of single Whiparound, then it’s going to be something to truly savour. Trumpet bombasts, throbbing bass, sharp riffs and some serious air-to-ground drumming precision - all are contained in these three and a half minutes. Yet somehow it feels deliciously uncramped. The secret seems to be in fusing danceable soul riffage with more spacious psych interludes. Whatever it is, they have it in country-sized portions. Tune in and wig out.
